Children of Men

There has been some buzz about Children of Men. Jen and I went to see it last week, and I thought it was a great movie; the first one that I’ve seen in a while. It’s about a not-so-distant and almost plausible future where the world is crumbling and human beings are infertile (the youngest person in the world is 18). While quite gray and bleak, it is also quite charming at times. The protagonist is thrust into a what-the-hell-is-going-on situation, taking the audience along with him on an incredible journey. The visual style is quite striking; a lot has been made of the long, one-cut scenes. Anyhow, if you’re on the fence about this one or just looking for a refreshing film experience, go see it.

Feng and I saw it and didn’t like it at all. Just another opinion.

I’ve been surprised by how many of my friends have had negative reactions, as well. I saw it in on 1/1 and would have immediately bet pretty much anything that it will be my favorite of the movies I see this year.
